One of the best ways to make extra money is with a hobby. Hobbies are something that you enjoy and what better way to make an income than doing something that you love. I enjoy being on the internet and writing, so I have combined the two activities into a way of making extra money.

My grandmother enjoyed making quilts and made hundreds through her life. When she and my grandfather retired, they turned their love of quilts into a business that allowed them extra money after they retired. They sold almost 200 quilts after they retired.

I have an aunt and uncle who subsidize their retirement income by going to garage sales, estate sales and auctions. They buy oddities and turn around and sell them on eBay. They have a regular following and do quite well with their business. Their business stemmed from a love of going to garage sales. Now it is a way of making extra money. They feel if they come out a dollar ahead they have done well, but they have gotten good at knowing what will sell. Many times they will make a great deal more than they paid for an item.

My mother makes extra money by renting bedrooms in her home to local college students. My parents have a home that has five bedrooms and they only need one. She has fixed one room up as a sitting room and rents the other 3 rooms. Their house is huge and since they had six kids living there at one time, they enjoy the company and it gives them anywhere from $400-$1200 monthly in extra income.

I have seen people make extra money in some very creative ways. These are just a few of the ways I have seen my family members make extra money. With the willingness and thought, you can start a part time business that can help you pay off debt, go on a dream vacation or help you fulfill any number of other desires you may have. Think about what you enjoy and how you can use it to make money.
